Discord's time in MLJ, obviously, had to start with renouncing responsibility for doing the entire thing in the first place. Thus far, he seems to have been telling the truth in that.

Being the spirit of chaos, he's taken to the newponies and the madness they brought absolutely swimmingly. He's been known to mess with them, and occasionally stage grand spectacles such as the Talk Like a Pirate Day battle with his other-universe self. Despite this, he generally stays out of the larger conflicts, whether because he wants ponies to solve their problems on their own or simply because he doesn't really see it as his concern. Sometimes, however, he's stepped in against dangers no one else seemed capable of facing. In the case of the Mayfield milk, he was asked to do so, but he showed up to eat the remaining magic from Tails's dark amulet of his own volition.

He also seems to fancy himself a sort of trickster mentor now and then, such as when he tried to teach Granny Smith a lesson by screwing around with everyone's ages. The part where he involved everyone was really just for his own amusement, but he did enjoy that a few lessons were indeed learned from the experience.

Certain developments have brought out a surprising seriousness from the draconequus, as well. He attracted a great deal of enmity from many newponies by stealing their Archive artifacts en masse, but his explanation to Fluttershy showed that he was on some level genuinely concerned about the disappearing stars and the effects the newponies' actions were having on Equestria. Of course, he saw no particular reason to actually explain any of this to anyone except for Fluttershy - he does have his reputation to keep.

Fluttershy - any version except for the Flutters, anyway - is still the only pony whose opinion he really cares about, but he's softened towards a few others, in particular the Twilight from Mayfield. She went out of her way to thank him for his efforts to help the newpony population, few and far between though they may have been, and he rarely receives that kind of consideration.

Personality: Discord is chaotic, more than anything. He warps reality on a whim, and generally cares very little for anyone or anything else. Manipulating ponies like playthings was a particular favorite pastime of his. He never seems to really want to hurt anyone physically, even before his reformation, but he easily causes mental and emotional harm without a second though. Refraining from violence isn't really an ethical decision on his part; he probably just thinks it's rather boring and uncreative. He acts less out of malice and more out of a desire to have fun. The world and everything in it is his plaything, and if anyone tries to interfere with him doing what he wants, he'll just get rid of them and go back to it.

Of course, this was the case before his second experience with Fluttershy. Though he was dismissive of the concepts of reformation, friendship, and the like at first, he came to realize after Fluttershy pushed him that he really does enjoy having friends. Before her, he had never had any friends before, and a lot of his shenanigans can really seem like he just wants attention; he just has extremely little experience with being able to draw any positive attention, given his mischievous and often callous nature. Fluttershy is still really his only friend, but the threat of losing her is enough to keep him in line.

Despite being the spirit of chaos, he also is a very good planner. He knows how to manipulate others, and can predict their actions quite well. When things don't go according to his plans, he can get frustrated; he's very used to having things exactly his way, and has only recently begun to learn that maybe he can't always. He also tends to be arrogant, such as both times he failed to consider the Elements of Harmony a viable threat until it was too late. These days, he's more likely to lord his power over ponies in small, petty ways. Never Fluttershy, of course, but Discord doesn't quite seem to trust that non-Fluttershy ponies really do view him as friends, and can actually be a bit insecure about that, once he comes to like them enough to want them to like HIM as well. People he doesn't like can pretty much shove it.

Ponies other than Fluttershy don't always quite manage to attract compassion and empathy from him, but his time in MLJ's setting has actually made him better about this. He's seen several major events and the damage they can cause, and has since acted in small ways to try to head off a few more. Possibly he was just concerned about a Fluttershy maybe getting hurt, but the point is that he's learning to be more altruistic in general. He's still Discord, of course, and will likely never wander around helping ponies with all their problems, but he's becoming more likely to pop in and lend a hand with the big stuff.

He's also having some new experiences regarding helplessness. The situation certainly is the most extreme thing he's ever seen AND not been directly responsible for; the effects on the cosmos clearly have him concerned, which is an entirely new feeling for him. And unlike most things, he can't simply snap his fingers and make it better. He doesn't like this sort of weakness much, and Fluttershy is the only pony he's confided his worries to. To everyone else, he's continued behaving as though all his actions are simply his own wild whim, and unconnected to anything serious. And really, most of the time they are. Just because something big might be going on doesn't mean he's going to get all depressing and doom-y about it - that's a pony thing, and he's going to keep right on enjoying himself in his own particular way. But he'll continue quietly keeping an eye on the stars.

Strengths: Discord is a reality-warper of the highest degree and can basically do whatever he wants. He can also be quite cunning with his plans, and manipulates others easily even without resorting to outright mind control. He also has an innate ability to sense great disturbances in magic.
Weaknesses: He's basically the emotional equivalent of a five-year-old. Discord always wants to be the center of attention, and even though he's currently being held on the side of Good by Fluttershy, he tends to be as obnoxious as possible to everyone except her. She's the only one who really likes him, so he'll take negative attention just as well.

In addition, he's very prideful due to his abilities, which caused his downfall both times he took over Equestria; he simply could not believe that either set of Element bearers posed a legitimate threat. Also, he's not exactly omnipotent. His mind control can be overcome, and Princess Celestia apparently knows a spell that can protect objects (i.e. The Elements of Harmony) against his influence. He can also succumb to physical illnesses.

SAMPLES
First Person: You know, it occurs to me that this place has been sadly lacking in chaos of late. [Discord where did you get that scroll] I never thought I'd say this, but you new ponies are getting boring.

[He leans forward, really more of a tilt given that he's floating.]

Now, back in the OLD days I always used to play some games with some little ponies when I would get bored. Ahhhh, but those days are past! Still, there's no reason we can't have a teensy bit of nostalgia, don't you agree?

[And he raises his claw and snaps his fingers. After that flash of light, everyone is going to be wearing vests and packing heat. Laser heat. Also he's kinda dressed like a space marine]

LAAAAAAAASER TAG~! Everyone on Red Team, you're with me, and everyone on Blue Team...well, that's just too bad for you, isn't it?

Third Person: The new ponies certainly had their benefits and drawbacks. For one thing, hardly anyone ever really noticed if Discord did something anymore! Oddities around town were just as likely to be blamed on new arrivals anymore, especially by that silly little Hoovesweek magazine.

Now, on the negative side, no one noticed Discord anymore. Come on! He was the spirit of chaos, and he was certainly not going to be overshadowed by a bunch of silly little humans tripping over their own hooves.

So that would be why he's currently harassing people in town square. "So, who DO you think the Pale Pony is? Personally, I have ten bits on Celestia. She enjoys chaos a lot more than you would think~" He sails after the mare, ignoring the fact that she's totally ignoring him. That is not nearly enough to actually make him go away. "Of course, this whole thing is only still going on because it's just SO delightful! I'll go and stop her once I get sick of it. So don't you worry your pretty little head about a thing!"

He reaches out to pat her, and quickly has to snatch his paw back. "Goodness! Now there's hardly any need for that. And I was being so polite, too." With a snap of his claw, the mare's colors invert themselves. No mind tricks, of course, this one really IS just a change of coat. Enough to irritate without sending anyone running crying to Fluttershy. "Good day to you," he huffs, flying off with a haughty flick of his tail.
